How swimming pace is calculated
Pace per 100 = elapsed seconds × 100 ÷ distance. One yard is exactly 0.9144 meters. The same swim therefore has a smaller time per 100 yards than per 100 meters. Splits assume a constant pace; they do not account for turns, rests or open-water conditions.
Measured pace is different from critical swim speed
This is arithmetic for the distance and time you enter. It does not estimate your threshold or sustainable race pace. Critical swim speed uses two separate time trials; use the CSS calculator for that test or the swim set builder to plan repeats and rests.
