What is running pace?
Pace is how long it takes you to cover a fixed distance — minutes per kilometre or per mile. It's the number runners actually think in: "I'm holding 5:00/km" tells you more than a speed reading ever will.
How this calculator works
It's pure arithmetic: pace = time ÷ distance, and average speed = distance ÷ time. We show pace both per kilometre and per mile so you don't have to convert in your head, plus km/h for treadmill dials.
Using your pace
Knowing your current pace is the starting point for any training block — easy runs sit well below it, intervals well above. The coach takes your pace and builds the weekly mix of easy, tempo, and speed work that actually moves it.
