Navy Physical Fitness Assessment calculator

Score both halves of the current PFA: the June 2026 Body Composition Assessment and the December 2025 Physical Readiness Test tables. See the deciding BCA number, points for every PRT event, and the outcome the instruction actually applies.

This is a planning estimate, not an official PFA result. A command-authorized CFL records the BCA and PRT in PRIMS. The PRT tables here are for elevations below 5,000 feet. The stationary bike is authorized, but the Navy requires its model, body weight and 12-minute calorie output to be scored in the official app; this page will not invent that calculation.
Sailor and BCA measurements

Guide 4 rounds height up to the next half-inch, waist down to the next half-inch, and weight to the nearest pound. Official waist measurement uses two readings at the umbilicus; a third is required when the first two differ by more than one inch. One self-measured value cannot reproduce that protocol.

Physical Readiness Test

The 1.5-mile treadmill uses the run table. The 2,000-metre row, 500-yard swim and 450-metre swim use their own tables. Alternate cardio modes require command authorization under Guide 5A.

The current BCA is a two-step process

Guide 4, revised June 2026 under OPNAVINST 6110.1L CH-1, replaced the older first-step abdominal-circumference limits. Step 1 is now sex-neutral: divide the rounded-down waist at the umbilicus by rounded-up height, truncate to four decimal places, and pass at 0.5499 or lower. A result of 0.5500 or higher advances to Step 2. The current guide does not use the old 39-inch male or 35.5-inch female ceiling.

Step 2 subtracts waist from height, then looks up rounded body weight and that half-inch difference in the Navy’s sex-specific Tables 2 and 3. The maximum is 26% body fat for men and 36% for women. This calculator transcribes the printed cells rather than substituting the old neck-and-hip circumference formula. When a measurement falls outside those cells, only the official Navy application or PRIMS can supply the result.

How the PRT becomes an overall score

Every sailor completes push-ups and the forearm plank, then one authorized cardio modality. The standard event is the 1.5-mile run/walk; Guide 5A also provides tables for the treadmill, Concept2 2,000-metre row, 500-yard swim and 450-metre swim. A stationary bike is a 12-minute calorie test, but its points vary by approved bike model and body weight and are calculated in the official Navy PFA Calculator.

The minimum passing performance is Probationary, worth 45 points, in each event. One sub-45 event fails the PRT; high scores in the other two cannot average it away. When all three pass, the Navy averages their points and assigns the overall category below.

Why a BCA failure usually ends the PFA

The assessment does not turn body composition into points. A BCA failure normally makes the overall PFA a failure even when all three PRT events pass. The narrow current exception is the high-performance BCA exemption: an unwaived PRT averaging at least 90 points, with no event below 80, can produce an overall PFA pass. That does not change the recorded BCA result or make a self-measurement official.
